quite honestly, jaxine didn’t think quite much of the dog that approached her. it wasn’t as though as she was afraid of dogs, because she’s not. she’d own a ton if she lacked self control. just the sight of the pit has her smiling like an idiot.
“ oh, it’s not a problem, ” she says, gaze lingering on the pooch. she wanted to pet him so bad. “ he probably just smells my puppy on me. i have a little rottie at home. just three months old. ”
people tend to get apprehensive around this particular breed of dog. reputation like that might have helped sway his decision when picking up the pup before he got euthanized. intimidation can be a strong thing, with various applications. but he’s glad she isn’t coming to a snap decision about … well, he doesn’t have a name yet. so does what he can to avoid being put in a situation where he’d have to give it.
but he can tell that’s probably unlikely.
normally, the pit has a bit more self control. even if he smells another dog on someone. “ i don’t know … “ john counters, quiet & soft spoken. “ … could just be that he likes you. or, if you’re wearing a scent. but i’m surprised – not having him on a leash doesn’t sit well with most people. “
